Markus “notch” Persson, creator of Minecraft, has recently won a bidding war over a 23,000- square- foot palace in none other than the Trousdale section of Beverly Hills.
Real Estate sources connected with TMZ claim Persson laid down $70 million cash and “reportedly” closed the deal in just six days; outbidding Jay-Z and Beyonce, who had visited the estate more than once according to TMZ. They also placed an offer.
Persson had this to say about this success on Reddit last year:
“Once I got a decent job, I never really had to worry about money”
“Now all of a sudden, as a result of how modern society works, I managed to somehow make a shit- ton of money”
Persson’s company, Mojang, was acquired by Microsoft in September 2014 for a cool $2.5 BILLION dollars. This is thanks to Minecraft’s enormous success, boasting over 100 million downloads on the PC platform alone, making it one of the most successful independent games of all time.
Judging from his tweet from earlier today, it looks like the boss is already getting comfy in his new mansion.
Are those candy dispensers?
All in all, way to go Markus. You surely are an influential figure to those in game design.
