Lalage Snow, a British photographer, started the We Are Not Dead project, documenting the lives of British soldiers over a period of eight months before, during and after serving time in Afghanistan.

Her photographs capture the hardships of fear, losing a brother, missing home, and what life is like on the frontline, felt by each soldier as the body counts of killed and wounded British servicemen steadily rose.

Snow’s time spent training with, bonding, and interviewing with the soldiers has allowed for us to further investigate the psychological effects of war and the toll it takes on human bodies.
