Adam Sandler just celebrated his 50th birthday. He seems to be getting more and more popular with age. His acting career took off in the 1980’s when he got a role in the famous TV series The Crosby Show. He debuted in Hollywood in 1989 in the movie Going Overboard. Since then Sandler appeared in over 40 Hollywood films, including the latest one The Do-Over that premiered in May 2016.

 

9. Mark Wahlberg – $30 million

Mark Wahlberg is a man of many talents. He is an actor, a businessman, a producer, a rapper and even a former model. When he was young he suffered from drug addiction and committed several crimes. Mark cleaned up his act and made his acting debut in 1993 in The Substitute. His acting career immediately took off. He played various roles in over 20 movies and produced over 10  films. In 2016 he worked on Patriots Day as an actor and a producer.

 

8. Brad Pitt – $31.5 million

Even though his divorce with Angeline Jolie made the headlines of 2016, Brad Pitt continued to make astronomical amounts of money in 2016. He starred in the WWII romantic thriller Allied which became a must-see all over the world. Pitt’s career started in 1991 and since then his name doesn’t come off the headlines. Brad’s current net worth is $240 million.

Robert Downey Jr’s career had its ups and downs. But ever since he got a leading role as an Iron Man in the Marvel movies, he became one of the highest paying actors in the whole world. The Iron Man made everyone forget about the hiatus in Downey’s career that had to do with drug abuse. He is back in the saddle and is making millions. In 2016 he starred as Tony Stark in Captain America: The Civil War.

 

6. Vin Diesel – $35 million

Not everyone knows that the real name of Vin Diesel is actually Mark Sinclair. He started acting when he was just 7 years old. In the 1990’s Vin wrote and produced a TV film Multi-Facial. But his breakthrough leading role came much later in 2000 when he starred as Riddick in Sci-Fi movie Pitch Black. Diesel participated in over 30 movies, including the 2016 Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. He is now working on three other projects due out in 2017.

Ben Affleck is a famous actor and filmmaker. He was a more or less successful child actor. His debut took place when he was just 7 years old. In 1995 he got his first starring role in Glory Daze. But the first real success was waiting for Affleck when he co-wrote and co-starred in the 1997 drama Good Will Hunting. Since then Affleck was offered leading roles in various movies. Johnny’s acting career is truly breathtaking and mind-boggling.  He worked on almost 40 movies, including such 2016 hits as Alice Through the Looking Glass and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Tom Cruise is not getting any less popular with time. He is always in the top ten of the highest earning Hollywood actors. His career took off in 1981 when he got a small part in Endless Love. In 1983 he appeared in Risky Business which became a career-maker. Tom Cruise films earned over $8 billion worldwide. He worked on over 45 movies, including the latest 2016 project Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.

 

2. Jackie Chan – $61 million

Jackie Chan is the oldest Hollywood actor on the list and he nearly missed the top spot. He started acting when he was just 5 years old. Then in the early 70’s Chan was a stuntman in Bruce Lee movies. His Hollywood career took off much later in the 1990’s only because he kept refusing villain roles. Jackie’s debut was in Rumble in the Bronx movie. The list of Chan’s awards is longer than his filmography.

Dwayne Johnson got the top stop in the highest paying Hollywood celebrities list. He sailed passed the last year’s number one Robert Downey Jr. His paycheck in 2016 surpassed his 2015 earnings by 100 %. His latest project Central Intelligence earned over 210 million worldwide.
