SoCawlege recently analyzed the search engine popularity of the 26 sororities listed in the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) for over the past 12 months.

Using a side-by-side comparison of interest over time, the 26 sororities were narrowed down to a top 10 most searched for based on average search volume.

The following data is provided by Google Trends, a free online search tool that allows users to see how often a particular search-term is entered into Google’s search engine.

What does a consistently high search volume indicate? A number of things, such as:

  • Which sororities PNM’s are most curious about
  • Which sororities social media profiles are the most searched for
  • Which sororities alumnae are checking back most frequently

Here are the top 10 most searched for sororities as of May 2017.

10. Phi Sigma Sigma (ΦΣΣ)

9. Alpha Chi Omega (ΑΧΩ) & Delta Zeta (ΔΖ)

Coming in a close second, Kappa Kappa Gamma is the second most searched for sorority over the past 12 months. 

1. Chi Omega (ΧΩ)

When matched up against all others, Chi Omega consistently ranked the most searched for sorority over the past 12 months.

As shown below, Chi Omega’s closest competition came from Kappa Kappa Gamma and Alpha Phi
